Nail Glamour

Friday, December 24th, 2010

I’m seeing Nail Art everywhere these days! What once was kitschy hand painted floral motifs is now a couture process. From Swarovski crystal and genuine pearls to the latest in metallic film overlays…. it’s all about the Nails.

Bali

Tuesday, December 14th, 2010

I’ve just returned from two weeks working in Bali. Having grown up in Perth its one of our neighbours and I’ve been so many times that it feels like a second home. I spent my days working with artisans, sourcing the most unique hand embossed leathers in creamy shades of mauve, nude and tan and working closely with my silversmiths, leather workers, and amazing staff who are all such an inspiration to me. I love listening to their advice and stories. They have made such a huge contribution to where my label is at today.

I thought it would be nice to share a little bit of my experience with you.

I L-O-V-E old photographs

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010

Leading up to that time of year that brings families together, I am back in Perth in my old childhood home. The allure of sitting on the couch and flicking through old photo albums never fails to capture me. I love the yellowing pages, the rounded edges, the way they fall out of their plastic sleeves as I turn the pages. Memories, moments and glimpses from the past.

I made this little photo collage from my mother’s pics from the 70′s. Her effortless beauty captures the essense of the Carly Paiker brand.
